Grace Beverley rose to prominence through social media, using her own personal accounts to promote healthy living.
But it didn’t take long for the young Brit to see a world of opportunities far bigger than simply content creation.
Here, Money Maker Times takes a look at Grace Beverley’s journey from social media influencer to successful multi-millionaire businesswoman.
Grace Beverley’s early life and family
Grace Beverley was born on February 16, 1997 in London England.
She is one of four daughters to the Victoria and Albert Museum curator Victoria Broackes and business consultant Peter Beverley.
No stranger to business, Beverley is the granddaughter of multimillionaire businessman Sir Nigel Broackes.
Sir Nigel founded the firm Trafalgar House, one of the UK’s largest contracting businesses. He died in 1999 when Beverley was just two years old.
How GraceFitUK led to Grace Beverley’s first steps as an entrepreneur
At the age of 18, Grace Beverley began growing out her social media presence.
After finishing school, she took a gap year before studying at Oxford University.
While working as an analyst at the technology company IBM, she began using YouTube and Instagram to document her life. Her accounts were set up under the handle “GraceFitUK” and focused on healthy living.
Beverley first started monetising her profile by selling healthy recipes on Shopify for £5.
Seeing the potential of her brand, while at university, she then launched an eight-week fitness guide.
The guide was started after a delay in her student loan meant she needed to quickly find a way to pay her bills. The fitness plan proved far more successful than Grace could ever have hoped: She earned £80,000 from the product in just two weeks.
While at Oxford, Beverley also launched the gym equipment brand B_ND, which later rebranded as SHREDDY.
Grace Beverley’s business success
Upon graduating from Oxford in 2019, Grace Beverley founded TALA – her most successful business to date.
“The easier thing to do would’ve just been to keep uploading videos, but I didn’t want to be a full-time influencer,” she explained in a recent interview.
“I said to myself: ‘Right, you’ve graduated. Now go and start the job you want to do, like everyone else’.”
The idea was to produce ethically made quality sportswear and clothing. Items were made from recycled materials and factory offcuts.
Explaining the thinking behind the business, Beverley said to the media in 2019: “A lot of stuff was coming out about fast fashion and how bad it was, and I think people had two reactions.
“They wanted to keep buying amazing clothes at good prices, but they also wanted to be able to help the planet.
“So I started looking at sustainable brands, and as amazing as they were, most seemed to be marketed towards a particular type of person with a certain income.”
She added: “At TALA, we sell activewear that’s 92 per cent sustainable but the difference is, it’s affordable.”
In its first year alone, TALA made more than £6million in sales, earned Beverley a spot in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards’ list of “top 20 most exciting entrepreneurs to watch” for 2019, as well as a place on the 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
TALA was initially launched with the support of an influencer brand-building company, but in 2021 she bought back the business outright before raising £4.2million in funding to build the business herself.
The brand now employs more than 40 people, with Beverley taking a step back from overseeing all elements of the business. As part of the transition, in 2023 she even appointed a CEO.
“I was still approving every single campaign, every shoot location, every influencer we worked with,” she explained to Cosmopolitan magazine.
“It felt like I was doing the right thing, but in reality, it was just bad for the business, because it became a bottleneck.”
As well as the success of TALA, in 2022 Beverley also launched “The Productivity Method”, an outlet selling personal diaries and planners.
What is Grace Beverley’s net worth?
Grace Beverley is understood to have a net worth of more than £8million. Her fortune has been amassed through all four of her businesses.
